Review: Gretchen wrote the following review on Sinko´s old “spinsmb” message board:
“I ended up going to the Detroit show at the last minute. I was at the Muskegon show on 7/5 which was awesome because it´s a more informal, smaller venue. The Detroit show was at an outdoor venue with seats up front and a lawn to the back. When the Spin Doctors came on the seats were sparsely filled and the lawn was quite filled. After a few songs Chris asked everyone to come down front and they did. This really got the crowd excited. I ended up in the second row and it was loads of fun. Chris and Eric seemed to be having such a great time performing. The set list was pretty much the same as they had in Muskegon, but they added Hungry Hamed, which thrilled me to no end, and How Could You Want Him. Again, I was so happy to hear Cleopatra´s Cat. The guys were all groovy and signed autographs after the show. I got to meet them all briefly and after got to go backstage where I hung out with Mark for a little while. It was a really great thrill.
The sad thing is that they were selling lawn seats for $3 the day of the show. And now there´s news of cancelled shows. I really don´t understand why. The Spin Doctors put on a better show than I´ve ever seen before. It´s not flashy, but they really put their all into it and I completely appreciate that. I really wish more people would get out and support them. They really deserve it. They are all awesome musicians. Aaron is my favorite drummer. Mark is my favorite bassist. And I really love Chris´ voice. Eric is about as good as they come, short of someone like Hendrix. And they are so kind & good to fans, especially Mark and Chris. Everyone needs to go see them. We need to start bussing people, maybe. I´d love to see the Spin Doctors continue for a long time.
Lastly, I said I´d post this so here goes…
Helpful hints to keep you from dying from the heat, courtesy Mark White:
1) Sit in a cool bath for a couple of hours
2) Shower with your clothes on so when you get out the water won´t evaporate right off.”
